| The discipline of Management Science and Engineering develops from the discipline of System Engineering (which is now a part of Management Science and Engineering discipline). Management Science and Engineering is a comprehensive discipline, covers and integrates multi-disciplines including Nature Science, Engineering Science, Social Science and so on. This discipline obtained the doctor’s degree conferral right in 1998, owned the postdoctoral research station in 2003, and was awarded as Shanghai First-class Discipline in 2012. The discipline involves three research directions now: Manufacturing Systems Management, Urban Services Systems Management, and System Management Theory.

| System Analysis and Integration |
| System Analysis and Integration is the only discipline in Science in USST that owns the doctor’s degree conferral right Founded in 1979, the discipline is one of the earliest established disciplines in this field in China. This discipline obtained the masters degree conferral right in 1993, the doctor’s degree conferral right in 2006, was included in the Key Discipline Construction Plan of Shanghai in 2008, and was included in Shanghai Universities First-class Disciplines Construction Plan in 2012. The discipline involves three research directions now: Complex Systems Analysis and Optimization, Complex Network, and Complex System Modeling and Control.

| Applied Economics is a first-class discipline that owns master’s degree conferral right in USST, the “Economic System Operation and RegulationS research field of this discipline was awarded as the Key Discipline of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission in 2008. The discipline involves three research directions now: Economic System Operation Theory and Policy, Economic System Industry Value Chain, and the Impact of Fictitious Economy on Economic System.
